For the last couple of years I have been quietly looking for a new young horse unfortunately we just couldn’t afford to import another at present. So the hunt was on; World Star has left very big shoes to fill. I saw a few horses that were interesting but nothing that was really special in my eyes. I received a video from Flowervale Stud of a young horse they had for sale.

As soon as I watched the video I knew I had to have a look at this one and so after a quick trip down to Melbourne to view him, we purchased Flowervale Florenz; a 3yr gelding by Florencio.

Florencio won the 2004 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in the five-year-old division. He was the only horse to receive a mark of "10" in the 2004 competition, and he received the highest marks total ever given to a combination at the World Championship for Young Horses. His results at the 2005 final were also excellent, where he won the six-year-old division. The judges commented on his bouncy trot "like a rubber ball," his regular and even walk, and his excellent canter that again earned him a 10. By an amazing coincidence Florencio’s great grandfather is World Cup; the same great grandfather of World Star. Clearly we are set for amazing things with Florenz.

Though Flowervale Florenz is yet to be broken in, it is clear that he is a really special horse with amazing paces, built in rhythm and a great temperament. He has been a very quick learner around home and I can’t wait to get him out and about.

The KTW Dressage stables are set to have a busy year as not only will Oscar B continue to campaign at Grand Prix, World Star will continue to strive towards his big tour career, Flowervale Florenz will follow in his ‘big brothers’ foot steps by starting his dressage career.
